(Des Moines) The head of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy was defending his program before lawmakers today. Director Arlen Ciechanowski says he can’t speak directly to the allegations of inappropriate sexual remarks by a former instructor.
But, Ciechanowski said, “It was somewhat of an isolated event between a couple of employees. I don’t think it has been, or is today, pervasive throughout the academy.”
Director Ciechanowski also says they’ve had all of their instructors undergo sexual harassment training. He says they also incorporate domestic violence and sexual harassment into their academy curriculum.
