(Harlan) After a lengthy investigation the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has taken two people into custody in connection with a rash of burglaries that occurred over the last several months. The targets of the burglaries were machine sheds and residences.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, two suspects were located and taken into custody Saturday night. The suspects are identified as 52-year-old John Piper and 31-year-old Sara Grulke, both from Harlan.
Both subjects have been charged with two counts of 3rd degree burglary and possession of an Offensive Weapon. The charges are in connection with a residential burglary in the 1800 block of Oak Road and a second residential burglary in the 1100 block of Ironwood Road.
Piper is being held on $35,000 bond. Grulke appeared in front of the Magistrate Court and was released on her own recognizance.
