(Griswold) – Representative Jack Drake (R-Griswold) announced today he will seek re-election to the Iowa House in district 21 which includes all of Union and Adams Counties as well as portions of Cass and Pottawattamie Counties.
Jack was born and raised on the family farm near Walnut. He graduated from Atlantic High school and attended the University of Iowa. Currently he is the board secretary of the Walnut Telephone Company.
In the House, Drake serves as the chairman of the Agriculture and Natural Resources budget committee and is vice chairman of the International Relations committee. Additionally, he serves on the Agriculture, Appropriations and State Government committees.
Agriculture has played an important role in Rep. Drake’s life and his work in the Iowa House has been to ensure future generations of Iowa farmers continue to have the best opportunities.
Jack and his wife, Shirley, will be married 60 years this summer. They have four children, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In his community, Drake has served as a 4-H leader, a board member of the Pottawattamie County Zoning board, President of the East Pottawattamie County Farm Bureau, President of the Pottawattamie County extension Council and a State Farm Bureau director.
He is an active member of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, Soybean Association, National Federation of Independent Business, the Iowa Farm Bureau and the Cattleman’s Association.
