(Clarinda) A Clarinda woman faces additional charges in connection with an accident that occurred Thursday night.
Clarinda Police Chief Keith Brothers says 28-year-old Megan Warrick was now faces charges of Failure to Maintain Control and Reckless Driving.
Warrick was driving a 2007 Ford Mustang westbound on the Highway 2 bypass when the vehicle went off the road to the right into the ditch on the north side. The vehicle then slid clockwise and slid sideways where is struck a flag pole on the driver side. The front driver’s side of the vehicle then struck the southwest corner of the screened in porch of the residence at 1101 S 22nd Street and continued sliding in a clockwise motion and ran over the wooden swing set behind the house. The vehicle then hit the south wall of the unattached garage with the rear bumper causing the vehicle to enter the garage. Warrick’s vehicle struck a ford mustang inside the garage, which turned the direction of Warrick’s vehicle, causing it to exit the garage out the west wall backwards.
Warrick exited the vehicle and left the scene on foot. Officers were called to 907 Meadowridge Dr. for a woman ringing the door bell. Officers located Warrick, who stated that she was dropped off by a friend. Officers transported Warrick to her residence and then checked into the situation a little more. That’s when officers discovered Warrick’s vehicle sticking out of the west wall of the garage. Officer’s went back to Warrick’s residence and placed her under arrest for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
The damage to the property at 1101 S. 22nd Street was estimated at around $32,800. The damage to Warrick’s vehicle was estimated at $7,000.
