(Des Moines) A Wind Chill Advisory will be in effect from midnight tonight to noon on Monday for most of southwest Iowa. The counties in the immediate area that will be affected include; Crawford, Carroll, Cass, Audubon, Guthrie, Dallas, Adair, Madison, Adams, Union, and Taylor.
The National Weather Service says a highly anticipated Arctic cold front will blast into the state this afternoon. Very strong winds and snow squalls are expected to develop with the front, leading to quarter mile visibility or whiteout conditions at times this evening. Brutally cold temperatures and wind chills are forecast to filter into the state by tonight and last through Tuesday.
Forecasters say northwest winds of 20-to-35 miles per hour with higher gusts will occur tonight into tomorrow morning. This will cause temperatures to plummet into single digits causing wind chills values to dip to 30 below zero into tomorrow morning.
