(Clearfield) A downtown Clearfield business sustained significant damage in a fire this morning.
Clearfield Fire Chief Chris England tells KSOM/KS95 news that they were paged out at around 5:01 a.m. at a local carpentary business at 313 Broadway Street.
"The first ones on the scene saw flames coming from the front and back of the structure and therefore set up their positios of attack and paged Creston and Diagonal for mutural aide," stated England.
A passerby spotted smoke coming from the building and called the Taylor County Communications Center. Chief England says the blaze caused major damage to the structure.
"I am going to say it is probably a total loss," said England.
Chief England says the State Fire Marshalls Office has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
Fire Fighters from Clearfield and Lenox were assisted by firemen from Diagonal, and Creston. The Lenox ambulance also assisted along with two Taylor County deputies.
