(State) A new report from the Food Research and Action Center says Iowa is among the worst states in the nation for getting breakfast to low-income children who are also in their school's free or reduced-price lunch program. Charles Bruner with the Child and Family Policy Center says the state is currently working to expand the number of schools that offer breakfast.
"The Midwest Dairy Council is working to provide support to schools and what it takes to move to school breakfast in the class room programs or grab and go meals. There are efforts by the department of education to support schools in taking these on."
In Iowa, it's estimated that one in six children comes from a home that is food insecure.
