(State) Nine people in eastern Iowa are facing charges related to voter fraud.
Eight of those charged are from Black Hawk County in northeast Iowa. County Attorney Tom Ferguson filed a charge of election misconduct in the first degree against eight people from Waterloo. They are all accused of registering to vote in the 2012 election and then casting ballots even though they were all convicted felons who had not had their voting rights restored. And in Lee County, a woman was charged with perjury for registering to vote and casting a ballot in the 2013 local elections while being a felon whose voting rights had not been restored.
The charges grew out of referrals made by the Iowa Secretary of State's Office to the state division of criminal investigation which has been conducting voter fraud investigations for teh past year.
