(Atlantic) The Cass County Board of Supervisors have set public hearing dates on the vacation of several roads at their meeting this morning.
The first public hearing will be held February 12th. The public hearing was scheduled following a request to vacate a portion of 644th Street and a portion of 700th Street, both in Grove Township. Cass County Engineer Charles Marker said they are also looking into vacating 1,287 feet of Gult Lane in Lincoln Township.
“They’ve got it gated off and we’ve never maintained it anyway,” said Marker. “The road curves and the straight extension has gone back to grass and weeds.”
The second public hearing will be held February 19th for five other possible road vacations. They include; a portion of 740th Street between sections 4 and 5 in Lincoln Township, Liberty Lane in section 34 of Washington Township, 756th Street in section 3 of Grant Township, Quebec Lane in section 27 of Massena Township, and 540th Street from Lansing Road north ½ mile in section 30 from the west line of Washington Township.
Charles Marker said all of these are dead end roads.
