(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. this evening in the City Council Chambers at City Hall to consider a request of Plummer Investments inc., to rezone a lot of land from High Density Single Family to C-1 Highway Commercial.
The property lies on the southwest corner of Olive and 7th Street.
John Lund, Atlantic City Zoning Administrator says the change would allow them to build up to a 1700-square office building or Doctors Office, or something of that sort.
"This would allow Mr. Plummer to sell the property as commercial," stated Lund. "He originally received a general maintenance code about painting that existing house that is on that lot. He stated that it would to be too expensive and preferred to demolish the house and rezone the lot. I found that to be very agreeable and a win-win for the city."
It would mean the removal of a blighted property to make room for additional commercial space."
Lund admits it is not as agreeable to the current tenants.
"But that is Mr. Plummer’s lot and his right to do with it as he wishes," stated Lund.
Once again the public hearing starts at 5:30 p.m., today, at the Atlantic City Hall.
