(Atlantic) The Atlantic Park and Recreation Department has purchased dog waste stations to put in some of the parks.
Atlantic Park and Rec. Director Roger Herring said through contributions from Mary Strong, Dave and Barb Chase, and Dr. Keith Leonard they came up with enough money to purchase four waste stations. Herring said he ordered the waste stations and a few days later he got an email saying they were running a special on them for $50 less. So, Herring called the company and asked if he could get the discounted price at $99 a piece, plus two more waste stations and the company honored his request.
“Everybody should feel good because everybody’s contribution went even further than what we had originally planned,” said Herring. “As soon as we get a little thaw we hope to get the six stations put out. It’s basically a post with a dispenser on it, with a sign on it, and we have our own trash containers that we will anchor to those posts.”
Herring said two of the waste stations will be placed at Bull Creek, one at the City Park and two or three will be put at Schildberg’s.
