(Atlantic) Home sales were up statewide in 2013 and that especially rings true in the Atlantic area.
Debbie Waterbury of Atlantic Home Realty says as a result of the increased sales there are a lot fewer homes on the market.
"The number of residential homes for sale in Atlantic right now are 65. 10 of those have offers on them. Typically we run anywhere from 140-150 homes for sale in our inventory so you can see sales have increased which depletes our inventory so we are low in available sales."
Waterbury says even though the prices are rising, the number of days on the market is dropping making it a good time to buy, and a good time to sell.
"Both, it's a good time to sell because our inventory is low, but it's still a good time to buy because we have low interest rates. There's also some programs out there that are excellent for first time home buyers. So talk to a realtor and get in on those advantages for you."
Some homes going up for sale in the Atlantic area this past year received offers in as little as two weeks on the market.
