(Des Moines) Iowa Lawmakers want it known that they oppose a proposal that would reduce the amount of ethanol in the nations fuel supply.
According to the Omaha World Herald, the House and Senate voted Thursday in favor of resolutions supporting fuel standards. They are reacting to a recent proposal from the Federal Environmental Protection Agency to reduce the amount of ethanol that must be blended with gasoline in 2014.
Iowa is currently the nation’s leading producer of ethanol, a fuel additive primarily made from corn that produces lower carbon emissions than gasoline.
