(Waukee) A snow squall is being blamed on two multi-vehicle crashes involving more than two dozen cars each Thursday as a snow squall suddenly dumped a couple of inches of snow on parts of central Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol says a 25-vehicle crash, involving at least three semi's, on Interstate 80 closed the eastbound lanes near mile marker 117 and 121 for a little over three hours.
In addition part of Highway 169 was also closed north of Interstate 80 due to a 30-vehicle crash near DeSoto.
Interstate 35 northbound near Cumming has also reopened after a semi crash closed it Thursday afternoon.
Officials were urging everyone to stay off the roads until that snow squall moved out of the metro area.
