(Omaha) Creighton University Professor Ernie Goss is out with the latest Rural Mainstreet Economic survey. He predicts a slow economic pace for 2014, mainly due to lower commodity prices.
Goss says farmers are restricting their expenses, but farm equipment manufacturers, are not afflicted too much, due to strong international sales.
He says another positive is that rural manufacturers are also doing alright which results in steady employment numbers. However, Professor Goss is not convinced that employment trend will continue, if commodity prices remain low.
