(Omaha) A High Wind Warning is in effect for Monona, Harrison, Shelby, and Pottawattamie counties from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service says although an initial surge of strong winds will move across the area in the morning, the strongest winds are expected from late morning through the afternoon hours. Expect northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph with gust of 55 to 60 mph.
Driving on Thursday will be difficult for all vehicles and especially high profile or light ones. Be careful of blowing debris. If possible, secure or shelter outdoor objects such as garbage cans and lawn furniture. Tree damage and local power outages are possible.
