(Des Moines) Iowans will have a chance to speak their minds later this month on the U-S Environmental Protection Agency’s plan to lower the amount of ethanol that needs to be blended with gasoline.
A special hearing on the proposed change to the “Renewable Fuels Standard” will take place in Des Moines January 23rd at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates.
Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey says the E-P-A is paying close attention to the protests from farmers and renewable fuels industry. And he says your comments will help.
“I have heard directly from some folks at the E-P-A that they are strongly considering the comments that they get,” stated Northey. “It is a proposed rule and it could certainly end up the way that it is written but could also end up different from that. So I believe comments will matter and this will be a great way to get some additional comments.”
Organizers are calling it the “Hearing in the Heartland” and are expecting a large number of people testifying at the event.
You do need to R-S-V-P for the hearing.
