(Treynor) No action will be taken by the Treynor School District regarding an online petition requesting the resignation of Superintendent Kevin Elwood.
Joe Thornton, Treynor School District Attorney, told KSOM/KS95 News that the petition can be brought to the School Board, but the School District does not act on petitions. Thornton said any facts or information that have come in have been reviewed and acted on if necessary.
The petition states that those who sign place a vote of “no confidence” in Kevin Elwood’s ability to adequately correct the negative public image and negative culture he created through his neglect to properly investigate and act on reports of sexual harassment and abuse in our schools.
Kevin Elwood’s son, Kreighton Elwood, pleaded guilty to assault, assault causing bodily injury and false imprisonment in September 2013 for allegedly abusing two females in separate incidents in 2012. He was sentenced to 14 days in jail, two years of probation, ordered to complete a counseling program for sex offenders, as well as register as a sex offender in Iowa for 10 years.
