(Des Moines) Patrons of the Iowa State Fair this summer won’t have to shell out money to buy fifty-cent tickets to get food or other merchandise. The State Fair Board Thursday voted to scrap the program which has faced strong criticism since it was sent out to vendors last Friday.
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad says it is a good decision and it will help vendors continue to provide great service.
“I love the State Fair, I think it is great,” stated Branstad. “But, I think we need to focus on the positive things and I don’t want a lot of people mad because they have to stand in long lines and transfer their money to coupons and not be able to use all of those. I think there is just a lot of concern from people.”
He said the fair board listened to its constituents.
