(Atlantic) With only a couple months remaining to meet requirements for having health insurance, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering a free workshop to help Cass County residents understand how to make smart choices for purchasing health care coverage.
The workshop will take place Tuesday, January 28th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Cass County Community Center in Atlantic. Kate Olson, Cass County Extension Program Coordinator, said Mary Beth Kaufman, Family Finance Specialist, will be the presenter for the workshop.
“She’ll cover a few of the key provisions of the Affordable Care Act, specifically as they apply to under-insured or uninsured Iowans,” explained Olson. “She’ll also talk a little bit about Iowa’s health insurance market place for people who have either attempted to get on there and aren’t really sure what they’re looking at or who have not yet used the system.”
Olson said Kaufman will also cover information on tax credits and where folks can go to get financial assistance. She stresses that the Smart Choice workshop will not offer one-on-one assistance or advice for enrolling in a particular insurance plan.
