(Des Moines) President Obama will meet with a group of Senators Thursday, including Iowa’s Charles Grassley, concerning the recent report issued by the Commission looking at the operations of the National Security Agency and its collection of personal communications data.
Grassley says he believes the President will call for greater transparency and better oversight of the NSA
“I believe when these things were enacted in the last decade that when you have judicial oversight, you have congressional oversight, and you have executive oversight… how much oversight do you need?” stated Grassley.
The bottom line, says Grassley, is striking a balance between people’s right to privacy and the Government’s need for information to protect the public from terrorism.
