(Des Moines) Freezing rain is producing light ice accumulations this morning in some portions of southwest Iowa.
The National Weather Service has extended the freezing rain advisory until noon today for the following area counties: Carroll, Audubon, Greene, Guthrie, Dallas, Adair, Madison, Cass, Adams, Union and Taylor Counties.
Forecasters say ice accumulations of less than a tenth of an inch are expected with a dusting of snow possible north of Highway 20.
The ice will primarily pose a hazard to travelers as roads and sidewalks and other surfaces will be slick. Anyone planning to travel this morning should be very cautious and monitor road conditions closely. Parking lots and sidewalks will likely be especially slick.
Road conditions throughout the area range from normal to partially covered this morning.
