(Iowa City) A new proposal could allow Iowa’s best students to combine their last two years of High School with their first two years of college.
Susan Assouline, of the University of Iowa Belin-Blank Center, says it’s an expansion of a current program that already allows gifted students to spend their senior year as freshmen at Iowa.
“Really, at its simplest form what we’re talking about is an opportunity for acceleration, an opportunity to have the kind of programming that matches what the students are ready for,” explained Assouline.
She says only one-tenth of one percent of Iowa students would qualify for the program. But, she says for the right kids and families it’s a “win-win-win” situation.
