(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council will get a chance to review the proposed Tobacco Free Policy for Sunnyside Park next month.
Atlantic Park and Recreation Director Roger Herring told the Park and Rec. Board Monday night that the policy will be presented to the City Council on January 22nd.
The ordinance is modeled after the city Adel’s with a few exceptions. Atlantic’s version includes the basketball courts but does not include the disc golf course.
The policy lists the following areas designated as tobacco free; trails, the outdoor recreational facilities, and all public buildings, grounds, restrooms, and athletic fields. The ban also includes; spectator areas of athletic facilities during a sporting event, tennis courts, basketball courts, skate park, pavilions and within 25-feet of the playground equipment areas and shelters. It does not include the disc golf course. Punishment for those caught using tobacco will follow Chapter 142D.9 Civil Penalties paid to the city’s general fund.
