(Sioux City) A northwest Iowa economic development official says Iowa’s complex tax system puts them at a huge disadvantage with neighboring states.
“In Sioux City we’re in a border community, bordering both Nebraska and South Dakota; South Dakota with no income tax and Nebraska who has been very aggressive on their tax code,” said Barbara Sloniker of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce.
Sloniker says local businesses just have to move across the river to instantly take advantage of lower tax rates. She’s urging lawmakers to reform the income tax system next session.
