(State) Iowa’s senior U.S. Senator claims the office of the Federal Inspector-General “Caved” to political pressure and “Trashed” findings of “Reportable Deficiencies” in Department of Defense Spending. Republican Charles Grassley says disregarding such “High quality audits” raises concerns about the D-O-D’s entire 6-hundred-Billion Dollars in annual spending.
“Audits are probably the primary oversight tool for rooting out fraud and waste in the government. Protect the taxpayers. Congress needs to make sure that government audits are as good as they can be.”
Senator Grassley’s calling on the new Inspector-General to take a “Long, Hard Look” at defense spending oversight and get audits “Back on Track.”
