HTS PRECISION AG TEAM IN JOPLIN HELPING TORNADO VICTIMS
(Joplin, Mo.) A team of HTS Precision Ag Team employees in Harlan is assisting residents in the tornado ravaged city of Joplin, Missouri. The city of 50,000 torn apart by an EF4 tornado that killed around 125-people. Dan Lucas, HTS Precision Ag Specialist, says there are areas where people cannot find the street they lived on.
“This is something that happened in a matter of very few minutes and destroyed, they’re saying, $3 billion worth of property in about three minutes,” said Lucas.
Lucas says the storm was so strong it moved St. John’s, a 600-bed hospital, about 4-inches off of its foundation.
“Everybody that was a patient got out of the hospital safely except for a few that were on ventilators and when they lost power and it took out their back up power, they were in the intensive care unit, and it did not bode well,” said Lucas.
A weather event as massive as this reminds us how vulnerable we really are. “My first reaction was, Man has no control over anything,” said Lucas.
