SUPERVISORS APPROVE CUMBERLAND LIBRARY FUNDING
(ATLANTIC) The Cass County Board of Supervisors approved a funding request from the Cumberland Library at their meeting this morning.
Vicki Anstey, President of the Cumberland Library Board, said they requested $10,000 to go towards a remodeling project in the first room.
“It currently has some old brown paneling that came out of the 60’s or 70’s and some of our patrons are concerned with the lighting in there, it’s kind of dark for them to come in and see. And, our shelving has been there for years also and we’re concerned about the safety of the shelving for our little children. Some of them are broken and kind of sagging,” said Anstey. “So, this $10,000 would help us replace that paneling in there, brighten up the room, get some new shelving and make it safer and more accommodating and welcoming for our patrons.”
Anstey said they have been working for two to three years to get grants to expand the library. The city has allowed the library to expand to the back store room and they are currently in the process of remodeling that area. She said the total project cost is around $50,000.
In other news, the Supervisors approved funding their portion of the sidewalk repair project in the Atlantic City Park in the amount of $5,495.67.
