UNITED BANK OF IOWA IN HARLAN RANKED NUMBER ONE IN AG
(Harlan) For the seventh straight year, the American Bankers Association has recognized United Bank of Iowa in Harlan as the #1 ag bank in Iowa for 2010.
Tim Meyer, Vice-President, and Office Manager attribute the ranking to a consistent plan to do what they can to help agriculture. The 2010 listing ranks United Bank of Iowa in Harlan fourteenth in the nation compared to 22nd in 2009.
“Agriculture has been very strong the last few years, are clients are doing extremely well, and we would like to think that part of their success is because of our assistance,” stated Meyer. “We would like to think that growth is not going to stop here and we have no vision of sitting on the egg, we definitely want to continue to grow and moving up from 22nd to 14th is a result of that.”
Meyer says the number one focus with their clients is liquidity and common sense lending to their borrowers. “I think that has helped our clients to stay in position and be able to take advantage if that farm next to them comes up for sale rather than spend money on intermediate assets that depreciate quickly. We tend to encourage our customers to stay in position and take advantage of opportunities.”
