(Oakland) A community input meeting scheduled for December 19th will focus on the changes in the Mental Health and Disabilities Services.
Iowa State Law has changed regarding funding for the mental health and disabilities services. Counties are forming regions to respond to those changes. The southwest Region includes 9 counties; Monona, Harrison, Shelby, Pottawattamie, Cass, Mills, Montgomery, Fremont and Page. Input on the regional system is requested.
A community meeting is scheduled December 19th at the Oakland Community Center from 3 to 5 p.m. Those who should attend include consumers of services, family members of people utilizing mental health and disability services, community MHDS service providers, and anyone interested in being a part of the forming of Southwest Iowa MH/DS Region.
The meeting will provide input into the current service system; what works and what does not, develop ideas for future service needs including Crisis Response in rural areas, build relationships and interest in participating in Local Advisory Councils, and receive an overview of the developing region’s progress, administrative structure, future board and advisory structure and current service systems.
The next meeting is scheduled for January 21st at the Dunlap City Hall.
