NEWT GINGRICH STOPS IN ATLANTIC
(ATLANTIC) The campaign for the 2012 presidency is well underway.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich stopped in Atlantic last night as part of his tour around Iowa campaigning for President. Gingrich said there are three things needed to get America back on track.
“You have to have a candidate who can clearly distinguish between where Obama would take us and where we need to go, and distinguished so clearly and vividly that by the time you get to a debate next October it will be clear to most Americans why they want to be with us, because that’s what it’s going to take to win,” said Gingrich. “But when you win, you have to understand that’s the beginning, the goal here isn’t just to beat Obama, the goal is to get America back on the right track and beating Obama doesn’t get America back on track, it just slows down the ring in which we’re running the wrong way.”
Gingrich said the second thing is to have somebody who could actually get things done in Washington.
“Washington is a very hard city and I think it’s gotten worse, so you better have a grand strategy that says here is how we are going to win after we win,” said Gingrich.
And the third thing is to have big solutions. “We have big challenges,” said Gingrich. “You don’t take a 2 trillion dollar deficit and fix it with tiny solutions. You don’t take competing with China and India and fix it with tiny solutions. You don’t take the challenges of radical Islamists in the Middle East and fix it with tiny solutions.”
