IOWA NATIONAL GUARD SOLDIER WOUNDED IN AFGHANISTAN
(DES MOINES) An Iowa National Guard soldier was wounded in Afghanistan over the weekend.
The Iowa National Guard says Pvt.2 Alexander Meyer, 19, of Ainsworth was injured by small arms fire while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan on May 15th. Meyer was transported to medical facilities at Jaf Hospital and then evacuated to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany for additional medical treatments. He will eventually be transferred to military medical facilities in the United States.
No condition statements are available at this time, but his wounds are not considered life-threatening.
Meyer is assigned to Waterloo’s Company A, 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division.
