STORM CAUSES DAMAGE IN LENOX
(Lenox) The Taylor County Sheriff's Office is reporting significant storm damage in the city of Lenox from a tornado that swept through the city late Wednesday afternoon. Officials say the damage is confined to a twenty-block area near the park.
Kenny Prodrazik is with the National Weather Service in Des Moines.
“The reports we’ve gotten from the Fire Department and Rescue in Lenox, we’ve had a couple of tornado reports, brief twin tornado reports, just weak ones but enough to really cause some damage to some homes and trailers and knock down some power lines within the town of Lenox,” said Prodrazik.
The Taylor County Sheriff's Office says there are no storm related deaths or injuries.
Heavy rain caused flash flooding in Adams, Taylor and parts of Montgomery County. One resident reported 5-inches of rain in Villisca.
Meanwhile, don’t let your guard down. Prodrazik expects more of the same today.
“We’re looking at a real good chance of some large hail, damaging winds, and possibly isolated tornado’s through the afternoon and evening hours,” said Prodrazik.
Prodrazik says a strong low-pressure system in western Kansas is to blame for another round of severe weather today.
