JUVENILE CHARGED IN HOUSE FIRE
(Red Oak) A 12-year-old juvenile faces first degree arson charges related to a fire at 104 west Maple Street in Red Oak early this morning. Red Oak Fire Chief Rick Askey says the call came in at around 1:45 a.m.
“Upon our arrival we had a very heavy fire condition existing on the second story; it was a two story house, in a second story bedroom. It had already self ventilated through the front and rear sides of the residence,” said Askey. “Interior crews quickly advanced on the fire, noted that we had very heavy heat and smoke conditions within the residence. They were able to suppress the fire in a relatively short period of time, but we did have significant fire damage to the second level of the residence and smoke damage throughout the residence.”
Chief Askey says the 12-year-old used ordinary combustibles to start the fire.
