SUPERVISORS APPROVE ZONING CHANGE REQUEST
(ATLANTIC) The Cass County Board of Supervisors approved a zoning change request from Mid American Energy at their meeting this morning.
Rich Hansen, Assistant to the County Engineer, said the request is to change the zoning classification for some property in Massena Township from General Ag. to Light Industrial.
“The Zoning Board had a public hearing on April 28th to hear Mid American’s proposal, they were looking for a site on the northern end of the Rolling Hills Wind Farm project for an operation/maintenance facility to maintain the turbine project,” said Hansen. “So they came up with this site and they want combine the Adair maintenance and operations facility with this one, so there will be roughly 50 people employed in this office.”
The building will be around 100 by 200 ft. with part of it going towards office space and a larger portion to hold maintenance components for all of the wind turbines. They building is expected to be built this summer.
