TWO CHARGED WITH STEALING WEAPONS IN RINGGOLD AND UNION COUNTY
(Afton) Authorities say they have arrested an 18-year-old Afton man and a 17-year-old juvenile and recovered dozens of stolen firearms from an abandoned Union County farmhouse.
Union County Sheriff Rick Piel says Eric K. Downey has been charged with second-degree burglary.
“Of the five burglaries he was charged with in Union County and the two in Ringgold County we recovered 40 guns. We also seized two compound bows and some cross bows and some miscellaneous scopes and shells and things like that,” stated Piel.
The second suspect, 17-year-old Tanner Jonathan Dean Harvey, of Afton was taken into custody without incident in Polk County Wednesday afternoon, by Law enforcement officers and agents from the U.S. Marshal’s Service, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
Harvey faces six-counts of Burglary Class C Felony and one count of Burglary Class D Felony in connection with the theft of guns in Union and Ringgold County. He was transported to the Central Iowa Detention center in Eldora.
