EASTERN IOWA FACTORY WORKER CHARGED WITH TERRORISM
(Amana) An Iowa County man was arrested after reports he threatened to blow up Amana because Osama Bin Laden was killed.
Iowa County Deputies were notified at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday that a man at Amana Refrigeration Appliances factory in middle Amana was making terrorist threats. 41-year-old Boubker Lamkadi was taken into custody.
Employees say Lamkadi stated he intended to blow up Amana because his friend and brother Osama Bin Laden was killed. Lamkadi told sheriff’s deputies he was kidding and misunderstood.
Lamkadi had no weapons or explosive devices. He was charged with making a threat of terrorism, a class d felony.
Sheriff’s deputies say that the situation placed many of the employees in fear of their safety.
