(Red Oak) Red Oak City Officials are discussing ways to fill the Street Superintendents position vacated by Terry Crowe who retired from the position last Friday.
According to the minutes, The Red Oak City Council discussed the issue during Monday night’s city council meeting. They had conversation in reference to the role of a new Street Superintendent. Councilperson Brandstetter polled the Council about hiring a Public Works Director to work as a Street Superintendent and oversee the water and wastewater departments.
Red Oak City Administrator Brad Wright says it is not his intent to hire a Public Works Director at this time. Some of the Council felt they need someone who understands maintenance and has the know how to fix curbs. Wright says his priority is to find a good leader for the street department that will be aggressive and focused on maintenance and repairs with planning as part of the job.
The Council asked Wright to continue the search as it is currently being done, with the goal to find someone that could potentially grow into the Public Works Director position.
