MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF AND RED OAK HY VEE PARTNERING IN DRUG TAKE BACK PROGRAM
(Des Moines) The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement are collaborating with local agencies across the state to participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration's nationwide prescription drug take-back program this Saturday. Montgomery County Sheriff Joe Sampson says this program is an asset to the community.
“A lot more people are getting hooked on prescription medication." said Sampson. “There are people’s homes that are getting broken into for medication.”
According to the DEA, unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue. Currently more Americans abuse prescription drugs than the number of those using cocaine, hallucinogens, and heroine combined, according to the DNA.
Area Citizens can bring their unused prescription medications to the Red Oak Hy Vee Pharmacy from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30.
