MOWING HEIGHT IMPORTANT TO MAINTAINING HEALTHY LAWN
(Atlantic) One of these days the sun is going to shine and farmers are going to get back into the field and people will have to start mowing the lawns. Bill Drey, Cass and Montgomery County Extension Program Coordinator, says pay close attention to how short you are cutting the grass.
“If you’re doing lawn contracting stuff for hospitals and most of those places, you’re probably looking at about 2 to 2 ½ to 3 inches mowing height,” said Drey.
Drey says this holds especially true when the temperatures really start to heat up.
“You need to mow it tall enough, it’s going to look better in the long run,” said Drey. “Don’t give it a scalp because that really causes some problems and some damage to your lawn in the long run.”
