ATLANTIC HYVEE RAISING MONEY FOR JDRF
(ATLANTIC) The Atlantic Hy-Vee will kick off fundraising efforts for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation this weekend.
Hy-Vee Store Director Amy Jordahl says the theme for their Springtime Party Celebration is “Carnival of Savings” and along with a carnival of savings inside the store, they will have a carnival of games outside for the public to enjoy on Saturday.
“A hula hoop contest will start at noon and whoever can hula hoop the longest will win a $100 Hy Vee gift card, we’ve got dunk tank coming, we’ve got ring toss, a bounce house, pop the balloon game and all sorts of really fun things,” said Jordahl.
Jordahl said tickets for the Carnival go on sale Wednesday at Customer Service.
Hy-Vee employee Aaron Siggins came up with idea to raise money for JDRF for personal reasons.
“It’s near and dear to my heart because my niece is diabetic and seeing her struggles I decided that I wanted to try to do something about it,” said Siggins. “I got involved with the JDRF bike ride a few years ago and started doing some fund raising to go on that bike ride and it was just a great way to raise money for JDRF and create some awareness.”
Siggins said on June 3rd and 4th they will ride stationary bikes on top of the roof of Hy-Vee for 24 hours to raise money for JDRF. Last year they raised just over $5,000 during this event. Anyone interested in riding one of the bikes for a period of time can set up a spot by contacting the Atlantic Hy-Vee.
