ATLANTIC CITY COUNCIL BEGINS PROCESS OF RAISING WASTE WATER FEE SCHEDULE
(Atlantic) Calling it a "good news, bad news" scenario, Atlantic City Administrator Doug Harris recommended the city council approve a sewer rate increase to pay for the new $15 million waste water treatment plant Wednesday night. Harris says this reflects an overall 11.5 % increase for the average bill.
“So the good news is, well it’s never pleasant to have to increase sewer rates, it is lower than originally anticipated despite the fact water usage is going down, that’s because we got the grant and the bids came in and so some good news and bad news,” said Harris.
The recommended rate would be increased from $24 per month to $27, and the usage charge for water used in excess of 3,000 gallons per month would be increased from $5 per 1000 gallons to $5.50 per 1,000 gallons.
The Council passed the First Reading of the wastewater fee schedule 7-0.
