POSSIBLE INJURIES REPORTED IN RED OAK ACCIDENT
(RED OAK) Two people were sent to the hospital following a two vehicle accident in Red Oak Monday.
Red Oak Police say 18-year-old Chauntel Hughes of Red Oak, who was driving a 2007 Hyundai Elantra, stopped at the southbound stop sign on 4th Street. Hughes stated that she had checked for traffic and didn’t observe the 2004 Chevy Malibu approaching. She entered the intersection and was struck by the Malibu driven by 28-year-old Russell Williams who was eastbound on Highway 34.
Two occupants from the Williams vehicle went to the hospital for exam of possible injuries. Hughes received a citation for the stop sign violation.
Red Oak Fire and Rescue, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene.
