ARREST MADE IN FATAL CRASH
(SIOUX CITY) A Hornick man was arrested in connection with a fatal accident in Woodbury County.
On February 21, 17-year-old Mary Hughes of Salix was killed in a head-on vehicle crash on I-29 northbound near the 131 mile marker. Hughes was driving a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero and southbound in the northbound lanes of travel. Hughes collided with a 2011 Chevrolet Pickup being driven by 23-year-old Ryan Marx of Sioux City. Mary Hughes was killed in the collision. Her blood alcohol content was .238. Ryan Marx suffered minor injuries.
Iowa State Patrol Troopers investigated the crash and learned the alcohol consumed by Mary Hughes prior to her death had been purchased and supplied by 26-year-old Robin "Tony" Armfield of Hornick. On April 6th an arrest warrant was obtained for Robin Armfield and Woodbury Co Deputies arrested Robin Armfield at his residence.
Robin Armfield was booked into the Woodbury County Jail on the charge of Supplying Alcohol to a Minor Causing Death, a Class D Felony. He was held on $25,000 bond.
The Woodbury County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.
