MILLS COUNTY MAN PLEAD GUILTY IN SEX CASE
(Malvern) The Omaha World Herald says a Mills County man pleads guilty to reduced charges in a case involving sex with a teenage boy.
According to the Mills County Attorney’s Office, 56- year-old Stephen Beattie pleaded guilty Monday to three misdemeanor charges: serious assault, lascivious acts with a minor and indecent exposure.
Beattie must now go through a sex-offender treatment program, register as sex offender for the next 10-years, and serve three years of probation as part of a plea agreement with the Mills County Attorney’s Office.
In April, the Mills County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint that Beattie and a friend Karl Hertz had abused a 17-year-old boy who was an employee at the funeral home in Malvern. Hertz committed suicide hours after he was served a search warrant.
Beattie also must pay restitution to the victim’s family.
