DOT RESURFACING AND BRIDGE PROJECTS
(ATLANTIC) The Iowa Department of Transportation has several resurfacing and bridge projects scheduled for this summer.
Scott Suhr with the DOT office in Atlantic said the projects are spread out all over the district and a couple of them they are trying to finish up from last year.
“One of those projects in on Iowa 148 north of Anita towards the interstate, that project is ongoing and should be completed late spring/early summer,” said Suhr. “We’ve also got a bridge project up in Modale that we’re trying to get finished up from last year as well.”
Suhr said there will be resurfacing projects taking place on Highway 34 in Adams and Union counties and Iowa 2 in Taylor County. There will be several bridge and resurfacing projects on I-29 in Mills and Fremont Counties, a couple bridge projects in Pottawattamie County, a resurfacing project on Iowa 25 along with a structure that will be replaced south of Guthrie Center, and a couple resurfacing projects in Dallas County.
Suhr urges motorists to be aware of their surroundings.
“We certainly want people to obey road construction signs, obviously slow down, no texting, no talking on the cell phone while going through the construction zone,” said Suhr. “Just trying to keep everybody safe and hopefully we won’t have any incidents this summer.”
