(DES MOINES) Full speed ahead implementing Education Reform in Iowa… that’s the update from the acting head of the State Department of Education this week.
Duane Magee says he was asked by the Governor to serve as interim director after the resignation of Jason Glass. Magee says the DOE’s been busy implementing historic Education Reform legislation passed last session.
“We’ve issued guidance on, specifically, house file 215 on the teacher leadership and compensation system,” said Magee. “We have announced the commission on teacher leadership and compensation and we will soon announce the membership on the council for educator development.”
And, Magee says they’re getting ready to roll out the new “Teach Iowa” system. He says it’ll be a “one-stop shop” for prospective teachers who want to find jobs in Iowa.
