(Des Moines) Some much needed rain is forecast for southwest and west Central Iowa over the next couple of days.
Forecasters say thunderstorms are expected to develop in western Iowa this afternoon and move across the rest of the state tonight. A few storms could be strong to severe this afternoon and evening with large hail and damaging winds the primary threats…mainly in western Iowa.
The severe weather threat will end tonight but storms will still be capable of producing heavy rain.
The storms are expected to linger into Friday morning, mainly south of Highway 30 and then gradually move out later in the day.
