(DES MOINES) Health officials think they know what made nearly 200 people in Iowa and Nebraska sick with the Cyclospora Bacteria.
“We really could narrow it down to this salad mixture that seems to have iceberg lettuce, romaine lettuce, carrots and red cabbage in it,” said Quinlisk.
Iowa Medical Director Dr. Patricia Quinlisk says they’re not sure if there’s a specific brand-name for the salad mix, but they are very confident that the issue is now gone. The produce was sold in early to mid June. She notes as a precaution, wash produce before consuming it, even if the package advertises the product has been pre-washed.
