(Atlantic) The antique Farmall tractor was auctioned off at the Cass County Fair today. The sale of the tractor was preceded by the swine, sheep, rabbit, meat goat, and poultry sale and followed by the beef sale which brought an end to the 2013 Cass County Fair.
The bidding started at $3,500 and the tractor sold for $4,000. Greg Zellmer purchased the tractor which was donated by Jim and Joyce Young. The money raised will be split between the grounds committee, fair board, and endowment fund. Grounds Committee spokesman Alan Zellmer says the first priority for the money is to go towards the beef barn. A single building will be constructed in the place of the beef barns one and two. The work is expected to get started shortly following the 2013 fair.
Any money left over will go towards necessary rewiring of existing buildings on the fairgrounds.
